It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
How to Drive Safely in the Snow
Massachusetts residents are all too familiar with winter storms and the effect snowy and icy conditions can have on the roads. If you have to be on the roads during snowy conditions, there are a number of things you can do as a driver better keep you, and your passengers, safe such as driving under the posted speed limit and taking turns slowly and with more caution. Turning headlights on can also help with increasing visibility. Additionally, keeping a safe distance, at least twenty seconds behind the car that is in front of you, can reduce the likelihood that an accident will occur.
What to do if you are involved in a car accident
If you are involved in a car accident, call 911 immediately. Even if the accident is minor, you will still need to file a police report. Make sure that you and everyone else involved is okay. If there is another driver involved, get their contact and insurance information. Before you leave the scene of the accident and are able to do so, take photographs of the damage to the vehicles along with photographs of the area surrounding where the accident occurred. If there are witnesses, try to take their statements as well.
What to do in the days following the car accident
You will need to get in touch with your insurance company as soon as possible. There is a time limit that applies. If you do not contact the insurance company within this time frame, then your claim may be denied.
